Assemble the Guitar
Install Switch, Pickups and Pot Assembly
- Install 3-way switch in guitar body
- From back of the guitar, feed wire through body wiring chase and into control cavity
- Insert switch so the switch toggle comes through face of guitar
- Place 1 drop of Loctite on threads (be careful and do not get Loctite into switch or onto guitar body)
- Place toggle indicator switch plate over toggle
- Place dress washer and nut on threads
- Align indicator switch plate and toggle
- Tighten nut with fingers
- Install pickups in guitar body
- Place pickups in pickup mounting rings
- Install neck pickup so the adjustable pole pieces are on the short side of the ring
- Install the bridge pickup so the adjustable poles pieces are on the long side of the ring
- Install neck pickup first
- Feed wires into control cavity
- Secure pickup mounting ring to the body with the adjustable pole pieces closest to the neck.
- In the control cavity, place a small piece of tape on the pickup wire and label it “NECK”.
- Install bridge pickup
- Feed wires into control cavity
- Secure pickup mounting ring to the body with the adjustable pole pieces closest to the bridge.
- In the control cavity, place a small piece of tape on the pickup wire and label it “BRIDGE”.
- Install control pots assembly
- Unscrew pots and output jack from workboard
- Screw a nut all the way down the shaft of each pot
- From the control cavity, push the output jack through the output jack hole in the body and let it stay on the outside of the guitar. At the same time…
- Place control pots into control cavity
- Install one pot at a time
- Place a star washer on the shaft
- Test fit the pot and test the distance it protrudes on the face of the guitar.
- Adjust the nut so the shaft protrudes the height of a nut and dress washer
- Remove the pot from the hole
- Place a drop of Loctite on the ends of the threads. Be careful not to get any Loctite into the pot.
- Be sure the star washer is on the shaft and insert the pot into the guitar.
- On the face of the guitar, place a dress washer over the shaft
- Screw on a nut and gently tighten with a ½” nut driver. Be sure to align the lugs of the pot correctly in the control cavity.
- Install all 4 pots.
